Detailed description of Winnapaug Golf Course
Winnapaug Golf Course is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in Westerly, Rhode Island
The course first opened for play in 1922. The course was designed by Donald Ross. A typical Donald Ross-designed course, Winnapauge has trees lining its fairways, many doglegs, and small greens. This course has the added bonus of scenic ocean views.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,361 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,153 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 525 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 6, a par-3 that plays to 127 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 4, a 425-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Winnapaug is # 16, a 179 yard par-3.

I played here 10 years ago and did not like the course, I played here again in July 2012 and did not like the course. You can hit a perfect drive and still have a side hill lie in the middle of the fairway. If you like old course designs, then you will like this one. There are many better choices in the area.
